About TAVATA (Tamar Valley Tourism)

The Tamar Valley Tourism Association (TAVATA) was formed in 2001 to encourage and promote quality tourism in the area. It is a not-for-profit organisation and the membership includes all business with an interest in tourism.

We have strong links with the Tamar Valley AONB, neighbouring regional tourism associations and local government agencies, and so are able to feed back news to members about current initiatives, developments and events throughout the area on a regular basis.

Membership costs just £50 for a year from 1st January to 31st December and includes the following:

Website Listing
Inclusion in this comprehensive website, which was redeveloped in January 2014. It can display the following information :

  • text describing your business
  • up to ten high resolution images
  • a Google map showing your location
  • a link to your own website
  • full contact details
  • features and facilities
  • awards and accreditations you are entitled to
  • monthly updates on your entry's viewing statistics

Leaflets
The fee also buys inclusion in one of our leaflets, where appropriate, which are distributed widely throughout the area, at all the Tourist Information Offices, most major attractions, and many accommodation providers.

Joint Launceston TIC Membership
If you are also a member of Launceston Tourist Information Office, we are able to offer a combined, discounted membership of £75 for the two.

Multiple Entries
Members with an additional, related business operating at the same address (a hotel with a restaurant, for example), can take an extra website entry for the reduced rate of £20.

TAVATA also runs several events for members throughout the year. These are often subsidised (or even free) for members. Recent events have included online marketing workshops, meals out, guided tours, river cruises. Members are also invited to the association's AGM every winter.
