Take one award winning chef and one ex- ballerina who both have a passion for good food, good wine and great company. Put them together and you have 'Gourmandaise'
Steve Pidgeon was head chef at The Arundell Arms in Lifton, on the Devon-Cornwall border for 15 years, where he was renowned for his exquisite food and classic menus. He won numerous awards over the years, including Best Chef in the Food Readers Awards 2016. Steve is also one of only 80 Masterchefs of Great Britain and his restaurant at the Arundell was awarded 2AA Rosettes for 15 years continuously. Born and bred in the South West, Steve is passionate about using only the best quality produce from local suppliers in his cooking. Steve now works at Launceston College teaching hospitality and catering courses.
Sarah Marshall is an ex-professional ballet dancer who spent her 14 year career travelling the world and the UK with English National Ballet. It was during this time that she developed a love for good food, good wine, and more importantly the importance of great hospitality. Since retiring from ballet, Sarah has run her own 4 star Bed and Breakfast, worked front of house at The Arundell Arms in Lifton, Devon, and spent countless days showing off the best of Cornwall to clients from all over the world working for Cornish Welcome Tours.
Steve and Sarah met whilst working together at The Arundell Arms, and now run Gourmandaise together..
Steve creates mouthwatering menus and cooks all the food..
Sarah does the rest...
The ethos behind Gourmandaise is simple..
We believe in bringing people together to enjoy the finer things in life, in a relaxed and fun way, but without any stuffiness or pretention..it's fine dining done our way..
Imagine big tables filled with amazing food.. the chance to meet new friends (or just come along with old ones)..
Enjoy fine wines expertly paired with your meal in a relaxed atmosphere filled with great conversation, ending the evening with satisfied stomachs and happy hearts.
Our Feast Nights and Supper Clubs are the perfect opportunity to experience all of this. Menus are tailored to match the seasons, carefully chosen and prepared by Steve Pidgeon, an award winning chef with over 20 years experience. Using the best that this unique area of the country provides us with, he uses local suppliers for the finest produce throughout the year.
One of the things we are really passionate about at Gourmandaise is giving young aspiring chefs and individuals interested in a career in hospitality, the chance to have some hands on experience. As Steve is also a teacher at the local college here in Launceston, we employ students from his courses to help out at our events.
If it's just a good night out with amazing food and wine in a superb setting you're after, we'll be holding events throughout the year both indoors and out (weather permitting) at unique venues in the area.
