Independently-owned Woodovis Park near Tavistock in Dartmoor, Devon has scored a hat trick having won Gold at the Devon, South West and now VisitEngland Awards for the Holiday Park of the Year.
Presented at a ceremony held in Blackpool at The Winter Gardens on 8 March, the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence are the most prestigious awards in English tourism. Celebrating excellence across the industry, the ceremony - held for the first time this year during English Tourism Week - announced 16 winners including Holiday Park/Holiday Village. The latest accolade follows Woodovis Park taking Gold in the Camping & Caravanning Park category at the Devon Tourism Awards in November and South West Tourism Excellence Awards in February.
Commenting on the Award, Sally Balcombe, CEO of VisitBritain and VisitEngland said “We received hundreds of applications of an exceptionally high quality making the competition for a Gold Award extremely tough. It is therefore a tremendous achievement for Woodovis Park to win a Gold Award, the highest accolade for Excellence in Tourism which VisitEngland can bestow. They have raised the bar for excellence for others to aspire to and I warmly congratulate them on their exemplary contribution to tourism in this country."
Woodovis Park received their award from Penelope, Viscountess Cobham – Chairman of Visit England and Joss Croft – Director of Marketing, Visit Britain.
Owner John Lewis said: “We are extremely proud to have scooped triple Gold and to have won at the VisitEngland Awards for the first time. To have come out on top for the whole of England is incredible. It reinforces the hard work every member of the team invests into making our little park a huge success and we’re all very much looking forward to sharing our special site with return visitors and new guests when we open for the season on 18 March.
“What can I say, come to Woodovis Park, come and enjoy Dartmoor and Devon and thank you to everyone who has made this win possible!”
