Railholiday strikes Gold at the 2016 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence
Railholiday has been awarded Gold in the Sustainable Tourism category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2016 Ceremony.
The Gold Award is the highest Award for Excellence in Tourism in England which VisitEngland can bestow. Railholiday was presented with their Gold Award at a glittering Awards Ceremony which was held on 8 March 2016 at The Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
Commenting on the Award, Sally Balcombe, CEO of VisitBritain and VisitEngland said “We received hundreds of applications of an exceptionally high quality making the competition for a Gold Award extremely tough. It is therefore a tremendous achievement for Railholiday to win a Gold Award, the highest accolade for Excellence in Tourism which VisitEngland can bestow. They have raised the bar for excellence for others to aspire to and I warmly congratulate them on their exemplary contribution to tourism in this country."
The judges remarked “Railholiday is an inspiring example of a business that is deeply rooted in its local area. From the painstaking and beautiful renovation of the railway carriages using local skills and materials, through to providing guests with an experience that draws on, and contributes to, the distinctive qualities of the local area, the owners’ enthusiasm and care runs through every strand of the business.”
Railholiday received their award from Angie Watson, Fundraising and Communications Manager of the Family Holiday Association and Joss Croft, Director of Marketing, VisitBritain.
Speaking on behalf of Railholiday, Lizzy Stroud said “We are thrilled to win gold. Here in Cornwall we are lucky to have the support of a host of talented friends and family, who all contributed towards making this amazing accolade possible.”
