The Edgcumbe tea-room on Cotehele Quay is open daily from 10am to 4pm. After a brisk walk enjoy a light lunch and a glass of wine or an afternoon cream tea. Your dog is also welcome.

Fishing at Hotel Endsleigh

Hotel Endsleigh is a member of the historic Endsleigh Fishing Club and as such can offer guests access to some of the best salmon fishing in England. With eight miles of bank along the River Tamar, guests can fly fish for salmon and sea trout every day of the fishing season (15th March to 15th October). The bank is divided into 6 beats which are fished in rotation throughout the season.

Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park

Former home of the Earls of Mount Edgcumbe. Miraculously the walls of his red stone Tudor House survived a direct hit by bombs in 1941 and it was restored by the Earl in 1958.

This comfortable, centrally heated lodge, providing spacious holiday accommodation, sleeps 6 in four bedrooms (1x double, 1xtwin, 2xsingle bedrooms). Upstairs there is a kitchen/diner (renewed in March 2017) with a built in oven, hob and dish-washer.  The lodge now has WIfi.  There is also a washer/drier, microwave and refrigerators.  Off the kitchen/diner is a comfortable lounge with TV and DVD.   The downstairs accommodation consists of four bedrooms, a bathroom with shower over the bath, wash hand basin and toilet.  There is also a shower room with electric shower, wash hand basin and toilet.  Off the double bedroom is the ground floor patio with hot-tub.

We are situated near the Cornish/Devon border and a quarter of a mile from the village of Tideford where the local Pub has an excellent reputation for good local food. We have been welcoming guests from all around the world since 1973  We are graded as 3 star and have a Breakfast award.The house is an old country house with older style furnishings. South facing patio and summer house, large gardens.

Saltash is the nearest town and adjoins Plymouth by the Tamar and Brunel Bridges.

It’s Little Wonder

that the Duke of Bedford, who two centuries ago owned a third of Devon, chose this spot for his hunting and fishing lodge. Overlooking the River Tamar and beyond into Cornwall, Endsleigh, now owned by Olga Polizzi, is set in 108 acres of gardens, woodlands, follies and grottos created by Humphrey Repton.

Designed 200 years ago this was one of Humphry Repton’s last commissions and brings together a multitude of landscaping elements for which Repton was renowned.
